Comeback Athlete of the Month

Lauren Mckinney is a senior basketball player at Bowie High School.  She received multiple surgeries to repair a dislocated shoulder and performed her rehabilitation at TMI Sports Medicine to get her back for her senior season.  She also participated in TMI’s Jump Training Program to increase her vertical and to strengthen her knees, hips, and core.  This year, Lauren played 30 games, averaging 11.6 points/gm with 5.6 rebounds/gm.  Lauren helped Bowie win district this year; she made 1st team all-district.
  ·         Favorite athlete:  Kobe Bryant because he’s a hard worker and overcame adversity.  People didn’t believe he could win another championship without Shaq but he proved them wrong. ·         Funny athletic moment:  I tripped and fell on a girl during a game after a free through.  She was supposed to take the ball out and everyone was just sitting there looking at her waiting for her to get up.·         Favorite post-game food:  Wendy’s Baconator·         My motivation:  to be the best I can be and knowing that people look up to me.  Knowing that everyone wants to see me excel drives me to work hard.  ·         How TMI helped:  they got my shoulder stronger and ready to play.·         My future plans:  play college basketball; currently undecided on where.
