Injury Prevention for Taekwondo

Taekwondo athletes, especially females, are highly susceptible to knee injuries.  Taught by 6th degree blackbelt David Kestenbaum, this program addresses the torques, mechanics, and training issues that will decrease the risk of injury.  

Program Overview:

  • Initial Assessment
    • Biodex feedback; quad to hamstring strength
    • Core and hip stability and function
    • ACL/Knee Injury and Low Back Injury Screen
    • Lower body power testing
    • Kick mechanics assessment
  • Training
    • Flexibility, core, and hip stability and power training
    • Lower body power training
    • Injury prevention training
    • Mechanical instruction
    • General conditioning
  • All participants receive pre and post assessment results
