Jamie Reed, ATC
Sports Medicine Consultant
Jamie Reed is in his fourth season with the Texas Rangers as medical director and major league head trainer after joining the organization on October 11, 2002. Jamie oversees the organization’s entire baseball medical operation, including training, conditioning and rehabilitation on both the major and minor league levels. He is also responsible for the day-to-day major league training department.
Jamie was with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for the six seasons, serving as major league head trainer from 1998-2002. Tampa Bay’s first on-field hire when he joined the organization on November 18, 1996, he was responsible for overseeing the Devil Rays minor league training operations in 1997.
Prior to joining the Devil Rays, Jamie was with the Baltimore Orioles from 1982-96. He served as a trainer at all four of Baltimore’s minor league levels: Bluefield (1982), Hagerstown (1983), Charlotte (1984) and Rochester (1985-89) before joining the major league team as assistant trainer in 1990.
Jamie is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and is in his third year as President of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society. He earned his degree in sports medicine from East Carolina University in 1982. Jamie, 46, and his wife, Jean, have three children: Zachary (22), Rebecca (19) and Rachel (17).
